Current Committee Members

My name is Sheila W. Williams.  I have been a Notary Public since 1986, when I worked for Judge Ann A. Gourdine as a Secretary.  A retired Civil Servant for over 38 years of service.  I retired from Naval Medical Center Portsmouth as a Supv. Distribution Facilities Specialist, GS-12 on June 30. 2022.  I came out of retirement and I am currently working for the Young Womens Christian Association of South Hampton Roads (YWCA-SHR), as an Administrative Advocate.  Currently serving as the Centennial President of Sigma Gamma Rho Sorority, Incorporated, Alpha Beta Sigma Portsmouth Alumnae Chapter for four years and many other affiliations.  Mother of three grown children, 12 grand children and 12 great-grandchildren. 

Jan became a California notary in 1991 and worked full time as a Notary Public & Signing Agent for 23 years with a passion for helping individuals, families & companies take care of their most important documents. 

1995 National Notary Association Ambassador in 1995 to promote the Notary profession through community service, public speaking & education to local groups. NNA certified Trainer in 2000 -2005.

Founder of AV Notary Network in 2003 with a mission to “build professionalism through continuing education & community outreach”.  

In July, 2005, AV Notary Network became a California approved vendor to teach Notary classes. 

Jan was honored to be named a National Notary Association Honoree in 2005 as one of the top 5 Notaries in the country.
